Description: Vintage slate surface globe made by George Philips and Son, London.  Sphere is made from two hollow metal or aluminum hemispheres with blackboard paint, allowing teachers to write on it with chalk and wipe it clean. The coastlines, islands, and major boundaries are outlined in white with minimal extra text, optimised for classroom instruction. Designed with a steel axis and metal support bar made from brass which can be attached to a chain and used, suspended from a height. ( Chain not included - The hanging globe is for demonstration purposes only).Dimensions: Diameter 48cm. Very good vintage condition. There are two small dents in the globe as shown in images. Condition reflected in images. Rare item.
